Having spent over a dozen years developing and teaching unique hybrid forms of fitness and yoga classes, Martin Hinton partnered with entrepreneur Mike Borden to launch TruFusion in 2013. Hinton is a catalyst behind the growth of the Las Vegas-born brand into a national franchise, one offering members a communal experience that transforms their health and lives.
A native of Dallas, Hinton proved himself a natural athlete at a young age, excelling in soccer and as a member of his school’s diving and track-and-field teams. In 1999 he moved to Hawaii and began teaching fitness classes, briefly returning to Dallas to work at private training studio, where he discovered hot yoga. Hinton returned to Hawaii and, with his evolution as a teacher and trainer, opened Five Mountain Fitness Studio in Waimea, where he began to experiment with merging modalities such as kettlebell, TRX, cycling and yoga classes. An opportunity to return to the mainland led him to sell Five Mountain Fitness and become department head at a hot yoga studio in Las Vegas, where Hinton would soon meet Mike Borden and embark on a new entrepreneurial venture, opening their first, four-room TruFusion studio.
Nurturing the brand and “the TruFusion experience” – moving beyond simple weight loss or muscle gain to guide members on a path of holistic self-improvement – Hinton trains and certifies other teachers while leading such weekly classes as Tru Hot Pilates, Tru KettleBooty, the ever-popular Down N Dirty Bootcamp, and the power Vinyasa yoga class Soulful Sunday. Martin Hinton is credentialed by the Academy of Sports and Exercise Science and YogaWorks and has received diverse training through the American Academy of Exercise, International Kettlebell Fitness Federation and other organizations. With the desire to have an effect on members as well as the community, he regularly leads TruFusion programs that benefit local disadvantaged families, youth clubs, animal shelters and other worthy causes.
